Purchasing Agent

Job Description Job Description The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required to support company operations. This role ensures cost?effective procurement while maintaining quality, delivery schedules, and vendor relationships. The Purchasing Agent works closely with project managers, operations, accounting, and vendors to ensure purchasing activities align with budgetary and operational goals. Key Responsibilities Source, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers based on price, quality, availability, and reliability Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors Track and manage purchase orders to ensure on?time delivery Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing history, and vendor documentation Review material requirements and forecast purchasing needs Coordinate with accounting on invoices, discrepancies, and vendor payments Resolve issues related to shortages, damaged goods, or incorrect shipments Monitor inventory levels and support inventory control efforts Evaluate vendor performance and recommend improvements or alternatives Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and applicable regulations Required Qualifications 25 years of purchasing or procurement experience (construction, manufacturing, or related industry preferred) Strong negotiation and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required) and purchasing or ERP systems Ability to analyze pricing, contracts, and purchase data Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience in construction, manufacturing, or industrial purchasing Knowledge of materials, equipment, and vendor markets relevant to the industry Familiarity with inventory management and cost control Prior experience working with project-based purchasing Company Description Established award winning commercial and multifamily drywall, painting, and coatings company with a proven successful track record in our industry since January, 2013.
