Job Summary
Assist with the leasing, maintenance, inspection and utilization of company‑owned property, realizing the maximum return for the organization. Assist in the acquisition of real‑estate required for company operations and disposal of real‑estate not required for company operations.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and handle details in connection with leases, both surface and mineral, on company‑owned real estate.
- Assist in the review and analysis of real‑estate documents, including oil and gas leases, while determining key provisions, obligations and ownership to realize maximum return.
- Conduct inventories and inspections of properties to determine condition of buildings and lands and arrange for maintenance as required.
- Negotiate for the sale of company‑owned real estate and assist in the preparation of contracts and other legal documents in connection with the completion of these sales.
- Negotiate with property owners on real‑estate desired to be purchased by the company.
- Assist in the preparation of deeds, affidavits and other legal documents to facilitate clearing title and completing acquisition.
- Consult with attorneys, title examiners and AEP Legal department on legal and technical work pertaining to real‑estate matters as assigned.
- Negotiate with property owners for real‑estate desired to be leased by the company and handle details in connection with completion of approved leases.
- Negotiate easements from the company to others for various types of rights on company‑owned real‑estate and handle details in connection with completion of approved easements.
- Negotiate and settle damages to non‑owned properties caused by company construction and operations.
- Assist in negotiations with various governmental authorities in connection with the closing, relocation, or vacation of public roads, the relocation or removal of facilities of others on company‑owned lands, or re‑zoning to facilitate company projects.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with federal, state, municipal and local government agencies and the public.
- Consult with Real Estate Asset Management team on real‑estate issues and attend project meetings as required.
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in real estate, business, engineering, paralegal or related field; or paralegal certification, appraiser/assessor certification or real estate broker; or high school diploma/GED with two years’ experience in real‑estate‑related activities.
Experience: Minimum two years of real‑estate related activities (four years for Salary Grade 6).
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
Additional Expectations
- Valid driver’s license.

- Basic knowledge of Excel and Word.
Physical Demand
Desk‑bound, occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; daily walking or standing briefly.
Compensation
Salary Grade 5: $64,000.00–$74,000.00 (USD)
Salary Grade 6: $78,000.00–$88,000.00 (USD)
Compensation Grade: SP20-005
Compensation Range: $63,496.00–$93,188.50
