Executive Director, Analytics and Market Research, Cardiovascular Business Unit

Business Analytics & Insights (BAI) at Amgen serves as a strategic partner to Global and Regional leadership, enabling data‑driven decision‑making across the enterprise. BAI integrates a diverse set of capabilities including forecasting, market research and insights, competitive intelligence, and advanced analytics to provide a comprehensive understanding of markets, customers, and portfolio performance.

What You Will Do

Lead an integrated analytics and primary market research organization aligned to the Cardiovascular Business Unit (CBU). Serve as the insights and analytics quarterback for the CBU, ensuring data, analytics, and customer insights drive commercial performance. Act as a trusted advisor to the Business Unit General Manager and senior leadership, providing objective, transparent, forward‑looking perspectives on business performance, investment decisions, resource prioritization, and growth opportunities. Advance organizational capabilities through automation, AI, and advanced analytics, and execute a global workforce and delivery model spanning Amgen’s global delivery centers and strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads Directors responsible for Analytics and Primary Market Research aligned to the Business Unit.
  • Builds a high‑performing, collaborative POD that delivers integrated insights with speed, rigor, and business impact.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Acts as the primary analytics and insights advisor to the Business Unit General Manager and leadership team.
  • Integrates insights across analytics, primary market research, forecasting, value & access, finance, commercial operations, and medical to provide a holistic view of business drivers and performance.
  • Delivers objective, actionable perspectives on growth opportunities, risks, investment decisions, and strategic tradeoffs.
  • Identifies and monitors leading indicators of brand and portfolio performance to inform decision‑making and drive business results.
  • Translates complex data into clear, executive‑ready insights that explain business performance and guide action.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance by uncovering high‑potential healthcare providers, patient segments, and points of friction across the patient journey.
  • Detect sources of leakage in the treatment journey and recommend actions to reduce drop‑off, improve patient progression, and enhance commercial execution.
  • Partners with cross‑functional leaders to ensure insights lead to measurable business outcomes.
  • Champions automation, AI, and advanced analytics to accelerate insight generation and decision‑making.
  • Leverages modern data platforms and predictive analytics to enhance business performance visibility and analytical rigor.
  • Leads a globally distributed insights workforce spanning US teams, global capability centers, and strategic partners.
  • Leverages delivery hubs such as Portugal and emerging teams in India to scale analytics and insights delivery with speed, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Ensures governance, quality, and operating models across globally distributed teams.

What We Expect Of You

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales, and/or marketing operations experience.
  • Master’s degree & 10 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales, and/or marketing operations experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales, and/or marketing operations experience.
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to influence senior leadership and shape strategic decisions through insights and analytics.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen with deep understanding of commercial drivers in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience leading insights, analytics, or market research organizations supporting multiple brands or therapeutic areas.
  • Experience integrating multiple insights capabilities including market research, analytics, forecasting, and competitive intelligence.
  • Executive communication and storytelling skills with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience building and leading global teams across multiple geographies.
  • Knowledge of drug development, commercialization, and the broader healthcare ecosystem including patients, healthcare providers, and payers.
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and AI‑enabled insights capabilities.
  • Experience building and developing high‑performing teams.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $275,763.80 to $373,092.20. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, Amgen offers a Total Rewards Plan, based on eligibility, comprising health and welfare plans for staff and eligible dependents, financial plans with opportunities to save towards retirement or other goals, work/life balance, and career development opportunities.
