Overview

The University of California, Berkeley seeks a donor relations professional to design, develop, deliver, and administer fundraising programs within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The role identifies new donor prospects, develops materials and marketing plans, and organizes related programs and events to cultivate, steward, and solicit donors.

Position Summary

Involves designing, developing, delivering, and administering fundraising programs. Identifies new donor prospects through researching background information on potential donors and developing materials, marketing plans, and organizing related programs/events; cultivates, stewards, and may solicit donor prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison to specific sports to provide alumni relations services to designated friends' groups and constituents.
  • Designs, organizes, and implements targeted and cost-effective special alumni events and board meetings to advance alumni relations and fundraising engagement opportunities.
  • Provides programmatic support and assists senior leadership in developing and executing mass solicitation strategies in support of annual initiatives for Cal Athletics.
  • Ensures that predetermined fundraising goals are met by providing strategy, analyzing progress, and increasing outreach with stakeholders.
  • Communicates to transactional donors attached to tickets to ensure requirements relating to ticket/donation packages are met.
  • Cultivates, solicits and stewards Annual Fund Donors: manage a portfolio of at least 125 annual fund prospects with relevant affiliations and/or giving interest to Cal Athletics.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with prospects and annual fund donors.
  • Identifies and evaluates potential donors; designs and implements prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Completes 10 to 15 substantive contacts per month with an emphasis on quality personal visits.
  • Provides stewardship for assigned prospects.

Required Qualifications

  • Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough working knowledge of and/or ability to quickly learn the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including decision-making and problem resolution, and project management.
  • Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate on projects and assignments.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and quickly discern complex and competing interests.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of and/or ability to quickly learn the institution, its mission, vision, goals, achievements, policies, and infrastructure.

Salary & Benefits

For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's Compensation & Benefits website. The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $91,500.00 - $95,000.00. This is an exempt, monthly-paid position.
