Director of Accounting

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for a dynamic hospitality client of ours. This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing payroll operations, and providing technical accounting expertise, including foreign currency accounting. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with an active CPA, strong GAAP knowledge, and 10+ years of professional experience post‑graduation, ideally within hospitality or a multi‑entity environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month‑end and year‑end close processes Supervise the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness Manage and review multi‑entity and consolidated financial reporting, including foreign currency transactions and translations Oversee payroll operations, including compliance, reconciliations, and coordination with HR and third‑party payroll providers Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, new accounting standards, and internal accounting policies Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with regulatory and audit requirements Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders throughout audits and financial reviews Develop, mentor, and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts in collaboration with finance leadership Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and efficiencies across accounting and reporting functions Required Qualifications Active CPA license Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 10+ years of professional experience post‑college, with progressive responsibility in accounting and financial reporting Proven experience supervising all aspects of accounting and financial reporting Strong technical accounting expertise with in‑depth GAAP knowledge Hands‑on experience managing payroll functions Experience with foreign currency accounting and multi‑entity environments Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
