Freight Appointments is working with a well-established international freight forwarder seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join their team in Chicago.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced logistics environment, supporting import operations and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and in a timely manner
Classify goods using HTS codes and ensure regulatory compliance
Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading)
Coordinate with import operations, clients, and government agencies
Monitor shipments through clearance and resolve any entry issues
Maintain accurate records in the brokerage system
Requirements 1–3+ years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writing
Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and import processes
Experience with HTS classification
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience with brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes) is a plus
