Virginia University of Lynchburg is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused Financial Aid Counselor to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities

  • Advise students and families on financial aid options, including FAFSA, loans, grants, and scholarships.
  • Process and review student aid applications in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate student records and collaborate with admissions and registrar staff.
  • Provide guidance to students on financial literacy and loan repayment.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with institutional systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, sorting, filtering).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in Lynchburg, VA.
  • Starting salary typically ranges from $20,000–$30,000 for candidates without a degree.
  • Candidates with Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degrees may qualify for higher pay based on education level.
