A globally recognized private client law firm is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate (3–5 PQE) to join its Los Angeles office.

This firm is uniquely positioned as a leading international advisor to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, offering fully integrated cross-border advice across the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Its Private Client and Tax practice is the largest globally, generating over half of the firm’s revenue and comprising 300+ professionals worldwide.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on complex, international estate planning and wealth structuring matters, advising sophisticated clients with multi-jurisdictional assets and interests.

Responsibilities

Advise high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families on estate and succession planning Design and implement comprehensive estate plans, including revocable and irrevocable trust structures Draft and manage estate planning documents from start to finish (client intake through execution and follow-up) Structure and advise on charitable organizations, foundations, and planned giving strategies Work with complex trust structures including CRUTs, GRATs, IDGTs, ILITs, and QPRTs Handle gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax matters, including preparation and review of tax returns Manage post-mortem trust administration, advising fiduciaries and overseeing distributions Collaborate on cross-border matters involving tax, compliance, and succession planning Contribute to business development and profile-building activities, including networking, writing, and attending industry events

Qualifications

3–5 years of Trusts & Estates experience in a law firm environment Strong experience advising high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients Expertise in estate planning, trust structuring, and wealth transfer strategies Experience with gift, estate, and GST tax planning and filings Ability to independently manage client relationships and complex matters Strong technical, analytical, and drafting skills JD required; Tax LL.M. preferred Admitted to and in good standing with the California Bar Demonstrated ability to manage a busy practice and meet deadlines proactively Interest in business development and long-term client relationship building
