Outreach Specialist

Outreach Specialist Position to support outreach efforts and the design and delivery of academic instructional programs for Deaf/hard of hearing, Blind or Deafblind students, their families, and stakeholders within the MN State Academies.

Responsibilities Under general supervision, the Outreach Specialist:

Participates in outreach initiatives to support Deaf/hard of hearing, blind, and deafblind students.

Designs and delivers academic instructional programs.

Works with students, families, school districts, and stakeholders to build positive relationships.

Meets deadlines and produces high‑quality work.

Leverages ASL skills when working with Deaf students.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) Minnesota Teacher license OR ability to obtain one before start date.

Three years of teaching experience with Deaf/hard of hearing and/or Deafblind students and families.

Knowledge of best practices for educating Deaf/hard of hearing and Deafblind students.

Skill in writing reports, arithmetic, and interpreting charts/graphs.

Advanced American Sign Language skills.

Strong interpersonal and collaborative planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing online instruction to Deaf/hard of hearing and/or Deafblind students.

Experience presenting information related to deaf/hard of hearing and/or deaf/blind students professionally.

Experience creating flyers, presentations, and other print/digital content.

Experience planning and executing events such as school events or Deaf/hard of hearing events.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Additional Requirements

Employment contingent upon successful criminal background check within the past 12 months.
