The Senior Electrician provides electrical installation, repair, and support services across campus.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Repairs, installs, and maintains all types of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, generators, transformers, and other electrical equipment and devices.
• Performs electrical work on photoelectric cells, time clocks, motor generators, and air compressors.
• Estimates labor and material costs for installations and repairs.
• Maintains accurate records of time and materials used and the maintenance and repair history of all electrical equipment on which work is performed.**Job Description:****Required Qualifications:*** Valid VA Driver’s license and a minimum of two years of driving experience.* Virginia Journeyman Electrician.* Significant experience performing advanced electrical work in altering, repairing, and maintaining buildings and their electrical systems.* Experience deciding on means and methods of task accomplishment when effecting repairs.* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical issues- utilizing diagrams, schematics, drawings, and manufacturer manuals.* Demonstrated competence in determining means and methods of task completion for electrical repairs.* Excellent oral and written communication skills. **Preferred Qualifications:*** Basic computer skills.* Experience working in higher education.**Conditions of Employment:*** This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.* This position is subject to overtime and schedule changes and may be required to work shifts during weekends, holidays, and special events.* The incumbent will be required to participate in the Facilities Management on-call program.* This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed and is subject to overtime.**Job Duties:**
