Vehicle Condition Inspector

ACV Auctions is looking for an enthusiastic Inspector who has a knack for cars and wants an opportunity to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of our company, sharing their extensive knowledge of vehicles with clients and ensuring a seamless, quality experience.

What you will do

Actively support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease sites to detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.

Prepare and submit detailed condition reports, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.

Assist the sales team in up‑selling or cross‑selling services and products.

Interface regularly with dealers to develop client satisfaction and build strong relationships.

Travel to dealerships and customers’ locations to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform.

Take comprehensive photos of each vehicle, capture damage details, and upload them to the image server using the company‑issued smartphone.

List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.

Enroll independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the ACV Auctions digital platform.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you will need

At least one year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) with a customer service background.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.

Problem‑solving aptitude with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being a team player.

Excellent communication skills to understand customer needs and expectations.

Valid driver’s license and access to a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.

Knowledge of relevant systems and web‑based applications.

Physical ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs (or more), bending, and squatting.

Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

Vision required to identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Compensation The compensation range for this position is listed in the 'Job Details' section at the bottom of this posting. This position is eligible for additional compensation pursuant to ACV’s incentive compensation plan. Final compensation will be determined based on the applicant’s relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and other factors as permitted by law.
