Director of Engineering

Metric DCX is working with an industry leader in Electrical Data Center Infrastructure to support hiring for a Director of Engineering, responsible for overseeing the mechanical design/drafting team.

The Director of Electrical Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s electrical strategy, aligning technical excellence with commercial objectives and evolving customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from initial concept and design through validation, detailed drafting, and deployment
• Lead, develop, and scale the mechanical design and drafting function, ensuring high-quality delivery across all projects
• Support strategic growth initiatives, including expansion into new markets, platforms, and customer-specific infrastructure solutions
• Define and execute multi-year engineering roadmaps aligned with hyperscale, AI, and HPC data center requirements

Requirements

• Strong technical background in electrical engineering, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Mission-critical power distribution systems (LV/MV switchgear, busway, PDUs)
  • Data center power architecture (UPS systems, backup generation, microgrids)
  • Electrical system integration for high-density, AI and HPC environments
• 10+ years’ experience leading engineering teams within data center or critical infrastructure environments, with a focus on electrical systems design and delivery
• Proven experience managing and developing mechanical design and drafting teams, ensuring alignment between electrical design intent and physical infrastructure execution
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively at executive, customer, and board level, representing engineering capability and strategic vision
