Beyond Type 1, san mateo, remote, United States

Request for Proposals

Strategic Partnerships Engagement | April 2026

Summary

Beyond Type 1 is seeking a 1099 contractor or boutique agency to serve as a Strategic Partnerships Advisor. The selected partner will collaborate closely with senior leadership to accelerate our corporate partnership pipeline, primarily focusing on out‑of‑industry opportunities such as consumer brands, CPG, technology partners, and related sectors.

About Beyond Type 1

Beyond Type 1 is a global nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by diabetes. Co‑founded in 2015, the organization serves the largest digital audience of any diabetes nonprofit worldwide, offering education, community engagement and self‑advocacy to help people survive, thrive and drive innovation toward prevention and cures.

Purpose of This RFP

The role involves immediate acceleration of the corporate partnerships pipeline while maintaining agency agility. The partner will work closely with the SVP of Growth & Partnerships, senior leadership, and the internal team to build and close qualified partnerships, especially out‑of‑industry opportunities.

Scope of Work

Pipeline Development & Outbound Prospecting

  • Lead outbound prospecting and top‑of‑funnel outreach to build a qualified pipeline of prospective corporate partners.
  • Prioritize out‑of‑industry opportunities, including consumer brands, wellness, food & beverage, beauty, and adjacent sectors.
  • Leverage existing relationships or quickly establish new ones at senior and C‑suite levels.
  • Support sponsorship outreach for the Q4 fundraising gala (Beyond Limits) and the stigma‑busting campaign (“The Beyond Type”) as near‑term priorities.

Proposal Development & Deal Structuring

  • Develop and refine partnership proposals in close collaboration with the internal team.
  • Identify and pursue six‑ and seven‑figure opportunities, structuring deals that deliver mutual value.
  • Design innovative, mission‑forward partnership models beyond transactional sponsorships.

Deal Execution & Handoff

  • Drive partnership conversations through negotiation and close.
  • Transition closed accounts to the internal Partner Management team for activation and long‑term stewardship.
  • Maintain rigorous pipeline tracking via Salesforce or equivalent CRM.

Strategic Alignment

  • Work collaboratively with the internal team, functioning as a true partner rather than a transactional vendor.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Marketing and Social Impact & Global Advocacy teams as needed.
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline status and revenue forecasts to leadership.

Ideal Profile

Beyond Type 1 seeks a contractor or boutique agency with a demonstrated track record of closing six‑ and seven‑figure corporate partnerships and multi‑year commitments for nonprofit or mission‑driven organizations, owning the process from prospecting through close. Existing networks and relationships in priority sectors (consumer brands, CPG, healthcare, technology) and expertise in cause marketing and partnership models are essential. Experience with wellness, beauty, or food & beverage brands is a particular advantage. The right partner will operate autonomously while aligning closely with senior leadership and represent our organization with credibility and warmth.

Note: We are not seeking full‑time staff or W‑2 freelance arrangements, large agencies lacking a dedicated point of contact, general marketing or communications agencies without partnership‑closing functions, firms operating primarily as referral sources, or agencies focused solely on digital, influencer or media campaigns.

Beyond Type 1 is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or any other factors prohibited by applicable law. Our commitment to equal employment opportunity applies to employees, applicants for employment, and volunteers.
