Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. (Strategic Customer Group) is recruiting for a Strategic Market Director, Regional and Government Accounts – Medicaid, for the Mid-West territory covering Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa and West Virginia. This is a field‑based role, therefore residing in one of the covered states is preferred.

Job Description

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. provides account management and customer support services to key health care customers, including leading health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, and government health care institutions. The company also provides contract management, logistics and supply chain functions for the major Johnson & Johnson franchises.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain and enhance product access through optimal formulary positions; drive sales growth by leading local market selling and pull‑through, and optimizing price through sound negotiating strategies for the pharmaceutical products in Johnson & Johnson.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts, providing access for products using clinical and economic value propositions, as well as marketing resources, to obtain favorable access.
  • Navigate the complex payer marketplace and work to achieve maximum account penetration to increase scope and areas of influence within assigned National or Regional Accounts, which may include health plans, state or local governments, physician medical groups or other payer organizations.
  • Set appointments and present technical information in group presentations and one‑on‑one interactions with assigned accounts to advance Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine product status, accessibility, and use.
  • Collaborate regularly with other Strategic Market Directors, National Account Directors, Region Business Directors, Division Managers and other J&J partners to ensure open lines of communication and synergistic efforts within the accounts.
  • Lead local cross‑functional coalitions including State Government Affairs and Health Policy and Advocacy to ensure collaboration and alignment around the territory’s government payer channel.
  • Interact with Value & Evidence Scientific Engagement PSALs to utilize their expertise and support customer accounts.
  • Collaborate with Brand, Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Pricing Strategy to provide account information, serve as voice of customer and influence product decision‑making in favor of their strategies.
  • Interact as appropriate with field sales management to develop local pull‑through strategies and ensure growth is maximized within the assigned geographies.
  • Develop customer‑specific account strategies to capitalize on new business opportunities across all assigned product lines.
  • Serve as a resource on the business models and trends of payers and as the local market expert on reimbursement and access within assigned geographies.
  • Responsibilities must be carried out with strict adherence to Johnson & Johnson Compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum six (6) years’ healthcare industry experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of sales, account management, marketing, contracting or related experience.
  • Ability to understand multiple disease states, therapeutic areas, clinical and pharmacoeconomic data as it relates to the assigned product areas.
  • Knowledge of formulary processes, contractual negotiations and implementation, and healthcare industry trends.
  • Preferred: minimum two (2) years of pharmaceutical, medical/surgical or device sales management experience.
  • Preferred: experience working in channels such as large payers, national and regional health plans, state and local governments, PBMs, SPPs and Physician Medical Groups.
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment and establish an effective work schedule accommodating frequent disruptions and flexible work hours.
  • Travel (up to 30% domestic) and some overnights required.
  • Field‑based position covering customers in OH, IN, KY, IA, WV; candidate preferably resides in one of these states.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and successful completion of a background investigation, including a driving record check.

Pay Transparency

Base pay range: $141,000.00 – $243,800.00.

Employees are eligible to participate in the company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

  • Vacation: 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time: 40 hours per calendar year (48 hours for Colorado residents, 56 hours for Washington residents)
  • Holiday pay, including floating holidays: 13 days per calendar year

  • Parental Leave: 480 hours within one year of birth/adoption/foster care of a child
