Senior Associate Vice Provost for Strategy, Engagement, and Analytics

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Senior Associate Vice Provost for Strategy, Engagement, and Analytics to serve as the chief strategy, external engagement, and analytics officer across student success initiatives.

Position Summary Under the direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Student Success, the AVP will lead strategic planning, data-driven decision making, and operational excellence across enrollment, academic affairs, and student affairs. Responsibilities include managing teams focused on student‑focused communications, engagement, marketing, fundraising, data analytics, and new student/parent programs. The AVP will coordinate with athletics, HR, IT, and finance to build a shared‑services model that supports the student experience from inquiry to career success.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements •

Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree (or foreign equivalent).

For candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational activities, a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) with at least 1 year of relevant experience may be considered.

Strategic thinker with an open and collaborative leadership style.

Proven results‑oriented leadership and passion for operational excellence.

Significant professional experience in communications, marketing, data analytics, student affairs, enrollment management, or student success.

Capacity to provide evidence‑based, data‑informed strategic insights to senior leadership.

Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to assess and improve institutional effectiveness.

Experience leading successful projects and driving organizational change and innovation.

Experience managing and mentoring staff.

High ethical standards and professionalism.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Diplomacy in handling confidential and sensitive situations.

Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment and building professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant field.

Experience managing large, complex organizations in a large, public research university.

Seasoned decision maker with excellent judgment and superior problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across the university.

Experience and success in evolving programs and units in response to changing student and business needs.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. Required to report Clery crimes and complete annual training.
