Senior Development Director North America - West (Major and Principal Gifts). April 2026. Location: Remote/US Based – LA Focused.
POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Global Director of Development, the Senior Development Director is responsible for creating and developing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with a special focus on significant philanthropic gifts of $100,000 and over. The role collaborates with the team to build a pipeline of new donors and grow investment from existing donors, partners with lay leaders and staff to ensure a unified approach to donor strategy, and leverages donor research and CRM tools to support strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a portfolio of existing major and principal donors ($10,000 and above), developing and executing individualized strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Identify, cultivate and solicit new donors to expand Momentum’s footprint of major and principal gift prospects, developing and executing individualized strategies for new donor development.
Deliver on quarterly and annual targets and goals by meeting retention, upgrades and increases, and new acquisition metrics.
Travel domestically and internationally to utilize cultivation opportunities with donors and lay leaders at events, conferences and our signature trips.
Collaborate with board members and existing high‑level donors/lay leaders to research, prepare materials and execute fundraising efforts.
Partner with the Foundation Strategy & Engagement Director to identify and cultivate foundation prospects.
Provide regular and ongoing donor communications to support stewardship strategy.
Identify and develop potential future lay leadership.
DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS & COLLABORATION
Partner with Development leadership to support overall fundraising strategy and organizational goals.
Collaborate cross‑departmentally to align donor strategy, program priorities, and operational execution.
Ensure accurate records to maintain donor data, track activity, and support reporting needs through Salesforce.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong passion and commitment to Judaism, Jewish community, Jewish continuity, Israel and Momentum’s mission.
At least 7 years of proven successful fundraising/sales or related experience.
Significant experience identifying, cultivating, and soliciting five‑, six‑, and seven‑figure gifts from individual donors.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and trusted relationships with donors, board members, lay leaders, and staff.
Results‑oriented with desire to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and adapt and respond to rapidly changing priorities.
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
Excellent PC literacy is a plus with preferred competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
Advanced proficiency in development‑related aspects of databases, preferably experience with Salesforce.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to occasionally work non‑traditional hours based on operational needs in a global environment with staff across multiple time zones.
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to meet with donors and attend events.
