Position Summary The Collateral Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing collateral to ensure the company’s funding practices are secure and compliant with internal and external regulations. This role involves assessing the value of and risks to collateral, monitoring collateral performance, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a demonstrable attention to detail, and a background in finance or accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Collateral Evaluation and Monitoring:

Assess the value and condition of collateral provided by clients/borrowers.

Conduct regular reviews and audits of collateral to ensure compliance with factoring and/or loan agreements.

Monitor collateral performance and identify any potential risks or discrepancies.

Review the application of payments received.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze financial statements, borrowing base certificates, and other relevant documents to assess collateral adequacy.

Prepare detailed reports on collateral status and performance for internal stakeholders.

Develop and maintain collateral tracking systems and databases.

Create, compile and prepare management information reporting utilizing portfolio management software

Identify and evaluate risks associated with collateral and propose mitigation strategies.

Collaborate with the risk management team to develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.

Ensure all collateral meets the company’s underwriting standards and regulatory requirements.

Client Interaction:

Communicate with clients to obtain necessary documentation and clarify any collateral-related issues.

Provide guidance and support to clients on collateral requirements and processes.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure a positive experience.

Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure all collateral documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and legal requirements.

Maintain organized and up-to-date collateral files and records.

Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits related to collateral.

Qualifications

Graduate or Current student enrolled in curriculum towards earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a keen attention to detail.

Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Considerations

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in collateral management, financial analysis, or a related role in commercial finance desirable.

Knowledge of asset-based lending and commercial loan processes is a plus.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices in collateral management highly considered.
