As Senior Director, News, you hold executive managerial oversight and overall responsibility for the news networks and news staff assigned to your news channel. Your role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that promote and support Charter’s News goals and objectives. To ensure progress is measured effectively, you establish metrics and tools that can be used for this purpose. You’ll make data‑informed decisions about what’s resonating to connect our audience with the stories that matter.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS NECN
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years with journalistic practices that include video storytelling techniques, on‑camera anchor performance, audience‑building tactics; 7+ years of management experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or comparable experience
- Technical skills: Knowledge of all aspects of local news programming, especially social media, and in‑depth skills with MS Office
- Skills: Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level, effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and the ability to produce clear and concise written analysis and reports
- Abilities: Ability to analyze data and develop and present data‑driven reports, ability to document, prepare and present executive‑level presentations, and ability to effectively manage large and complex projects
- Travel Ability: Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
- Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to breaking news or severe weather emergencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Journalism or commensurate area of study
Working Conditions
- Works primarily inside a climate‑controlled environment throughout the year
- Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi‑noisy environment
- Works different shifts and is flexible with schedule changes
- May be required to lift up to 5 pounds
The base pay for this position generally is between $169,800.00 and $300,800.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive‑based compensation such as bonuses.
