Senior Legal Counsel – Energy (Refining / Downstream)
Location: Houston or Dallas, Texas (hybrid)
An opportunity has arisen with a high-growth downstream energy company focused on developing groundbreaking, large-scale refining and power infrastructure in Texas.
The business is in an early phase of development and is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel to work closely with the General Counsel as part of a lean and evolving legal function. This role will offer broad exposure across commercial, corporate, and project-related matters as the platform continues to scale.
The Role
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
- Supporting vendor, procurement, and supply arrangements
- Advising internal stakeholders across commercial and operational teams
- Assisting with project development and infrastructure build-out
- Supporting strategic transactions and wider business initiatives
- Working closely with senior leadership on day-to-day legal matters
Candidate Profile
- Approximately 5 to 7 years of legal experience
- Background in energy, ideally with exposure to downstream or refining
- Strong transactional and commercial contracts experience
- Trained at a leading law firm and/or relevant in-house environment
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach
- Comfortable operating in a lean, high-growth environment
