Structured Finance Ratings Advisory SVP/Director

BBVA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join the Debt Advisory team within the firm’s Investment Banking & Finance (IB&F) vertical.

Summary of Responsibilities

Debt Advisory is a client facing function tasked with:

  1. elevating strategic and product-agnostic dialogue with clients.
  2. Liaising with rating agencies, acting as a bridge to optimize structures and develop strategies for clients using securitization and project finance solutions.
  3. Collaborating with product partners to originate and execute business across IB&F and the larger organization.

The SVP will work constructively with Analysts and Associates, as well as the team Head. They will interact with other teams as needed, including Client Coverage, Project Finance and Debt Capital Markets.

Skills, knowledge and competencies

Relevant work experience: Ten or more years.

  • Strong background in (ideally both): (a) securitized products , and (b) infrastructure transactions for the US Private Placement and project bond market.
  • Proficiency in various off-the-run asset-backed structures across the digital infrastructure space (data centers, fiber, cell towers etc.), power generation & transmission, and esoteric assets .
  • Proficiency in rating infrastructure project bonds , preferably for the US Private Placement market
  • Developing appropriate debt sizing at various ratings levels by manipulating financial models
  • Remaining abreast of trends across rating agencies (S&P, Moody's, Fitch, KBRA); relationships with rating agencies is very important
  • Advising clients on how to secure the most favorable rating outcomes
  • Working closely with BBVA's securitization and project bond bankers
  • Experience with legal ringfencing, CLOs and CMBS is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral – with client and internal stakeholders, including the ability to present complex ideas effectively

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Math, Engineering, or related field
  • Fluent in English (working knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required).

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $200,000 to $250,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
