High School/Middle School Assistant Choir Director

Bethany High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our music department as a Full-Time Assistant Choir Director. The ideal candidate will support the Choir Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive choral program for both high school and middle school students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young musicians, foster a love for singing, and contribute to the overall musical culture of our school community.

Responsibilities

Assist the Choir Director in planning and conducting rehearsals for various choirs, including middle school and high school ensembles.

Collaborate with the Choir Director to select appropriate repertoire that aligns with the educational goals of the program.

Provide vocal instruction and guidance to students in developing their singing techniques and performance skills.

Help organize and participate in choir performances, competitions, and community events.

Support the recruitment and retention of choir members through engaging outreach activities and communication with students and parents.

Assist in managing the logistics of the choral program, including scheduling rehearsals, coordinating travel for events, and maintaining inventory of musical materials.

Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and personal growth in music.

Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.

Collaborate with other music educators and school staff to integrate choral music into the broader curriculum.

Stay current with trends in choral music education and continually seek professional development opportunities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, or a related field.

Oklahoma Certification in music education required.

Previous experience in choral directing or teaching at the middle school or high school level is preferred.

Strong vocal skills and knowledge of choral repertoire across various genres.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and parents to promote a positive learning environment.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Proficiency in music notation software and other relevant technology is a plus.

A passion for music education and a commitment to fostering student engagement and growth.

Must be able to pass background checks and comply with school district policies.
