Director of FP&A

Remote – Must be based out of Chicago, New York City, or Pittsburgh, PA

Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing, PE-backed services company executing an aggressive growth strategy through both acquisitions and organic expansion. The organization is seeking a Director of FP&A to lead and scale its FP&A function, providing critical financial insight, operational analytics, and strategic support to executive leadership.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on FP&A leader who thrives in fast‑paced, evolving environments and has experience supporting multi‑entity organizations during periods of transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the FP&A team, driving best‑in‑class financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes
  • Own the annual budgeting, rolling forecast, and long‑range planning processes across multiple operating entities
  • Partner closely with operational and functional leaders to deliver actionable insights, KPIs, and decision support
  • Support multi‑entity integration efforts, including acquisition modeling, post‑acquisition reporting, and performance tracking
  • Oversee consolidations and financial reporting support for a complex, multi‑entity structure
  • Develop and enhance financial models to evaluate growth initiatives, pricing strategies, and operational efficiencies
  • Prepare and present financial analysis and executive‑level reporting for senior management and PE sponsors
  • Continuously improve FP&A processes, systems, and reporting tools to support scalability and data integrity
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to leadership during periods of rapid change and growth

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8–15 years of progressive finance experience, with a strong emphasis on FP&A
  • CPA greatly preferred
  • Prior experience in public accounting strongly preferred (Big 4 or national firm a plus)
  • Experience in a private equity–backed environment or supporting PE sponsors is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated success in operational FP&A, ideally within a multi‑entity or services‑based organization
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and scale high‑performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the executive level
