Position Overview
The Head of Investor Relations will lead all aspects of investor engagement, capital formation, and LP communications. This role requires a disciplined, execution-oriented professional capable of interfacing directly with institutional investors, including pension funds, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices.
The role will work closely with the Managing Partner to drive fundraising initiatives, structure investor communications, and build a high-quality, institutional investor base.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Formation & Fundraising
- Lead fundraising efforts across flagship funds and co-investment opportunities
- Manage the full lifecycle of LP engagement: sourcing, outreach, diligence, and closing
- Build and maintain a pipeline of institutional investors (pensions, endowments, sovereigns, consultants)
- Coordinate with placement agents and distribution partners where appropriate
Investor Relations & Communications
- Serve as primary point of contact for current and prospective LPs
- Oversee investor reporting, quarterly updates, and capital communications
- Develop and refine investor materials (pitch decks, DDQs, PPM summaries, performance reports)
- Maintain institutional-grade quality across all investor-facing communications
Strategic Positioning
- Translate the firm’s investment strategy into a clear, compelling institutional narrative
- Support positioning of the firm within the broader space and defense ecosystem
- Partner with the investment team to articulate portfolio construction, pipeline, and market thesis
Infrastructure & Process
- Build and scale IR processes, CRM systems, and reporting frameworks
- Manage datarooms and diligence workflows for prospective LPs
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and fund administration teams
Event & Market Engagement
- Represent the firm in investor meetings, conferences, and private forums
- Support execution of firm-hosted events, including LP summits and targeted investor gatherings
Qualifications
- 8–15+ years of experience in investor relations, capital raising, institutional sales, private equity, venture capital, or investment banking
- Demonstrated track record in fundraising or supporting institutional capital raises
- Strong understanding of fund structures, LP expectations, and diligence processes
- Existing relationships with institutional LPs or consultants preferred
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- High level of professionalism and ability to engage senior stakeholders
- Experience with dataroom platforms such as Datasite or Intralinks
Experience
- Experience at a private equity firm, venture capital firm, hedge fund, or placement agent
- Exposure to space, aerospace, defense, or deep technology sectors
- Familiarity with institutional reporting standards and regulatory frameworks
This role is designed for an operator capable of building and leading the investor relations function in a focused, high-growth environment. The position requires ownership of fundraising execution, disciplined investor engagement, and the ability to position the firm effectively within the institutional market.
