Job Summary
The Automotive Service Writer serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. This role ensures accurate documentation of vehicle issues, clear communication with technicians, and exceptional customer service throughout the repair process.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and listen to their vehicle concerns.
Prepare detailed repair orders and cost estimates.
Explain recommended services and repairs to customers in clear, non-technical language.
Coordinate with technicians to ensure proper diagnosis and timely completion of repairs.
Communicate status updates and any changes in cost or timeline to customers.
Review completed work orders for accuracy before invoicing.
Process warranty claims and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
Schedule service appointments and manage shop workflow efficiently.
Maintain accurate customer records and follow up for satisfaction.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; automotive-related certifications preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an automotive service environment.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems and terminology.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
Proficiency in dealership management software.
Skills
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
