Camp Director The Camp Director is responsible for planning, operating, and implementing safe, high-quality programming for children ages 5-12 which furthers the mission of the DCH Summer Camp through the development and management of program, staff and operations. The Camp Director is expected to assist the Program Director with pre-planning for Orientations, Trainings, etc. starting in May.
Essential Job Functions
In collaboration and partnership with DCH Program Director: Design, deliver, and evaluate camp program that meets the needs and interests of campers ages 5-12 and their families and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
Camp season: June 8 -August 21.
With the camp leadership, help plan and schedule program activities including in house events, weekly themes, and all other aspects of the summer camp program when applicable.
With the DCH and Summer Camp leadership, ensure that all DCH policies and procedures, organizational and summer camp specific, are being implemented and enforced throughout the summer camp season.
In collaboration with other Camp Leadership will make multiple rounds of camp during the day stopping to assist, communicate, and encourage both camp staff and campers.
Will attend and lead weekly leadership and camp staff meetings to discuss anything that are observed during the daily rounds of camp and DCH leadership feedback.
Ensure appropriate camp staffing- maintaining daily ratios and keeping the DCH Program Director informed of all staffing challenges that should arise.
Administrative Work
Creating and implementing staff schedules.
Creating and implementing camp activity schedules.
Work with camp leadership to evaluate all summer staff members both midsummer and end of the summer season.
Respond to emails from families daily.
Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
21 years or older.
At least two seasons previous experience working in a summer camp setting in a leadership role.
Or camp experience/ experience with the target population AND successful completion of camp administrative course.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to be present during all weeks of DCH Camp unless prior arrangements have been made with DCH Program Director.
Impeccable integrity and ability to be trusted with confidential materials and information.
Schedule 8:30am-4:30pm
Expectation to be opening (shift start at 7:30am) or closing (shift ends at 5:45pm) with the rest of camp leadership.
