*Patient Account Representative* *Location:* Annapolis, MD
*Work Model:* Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
*Position Overview* We are seeking an experienced *Patient Account Representative* to support hospital revenue cycle operations with a strong focus on *thirdparty payer followup, denials, appeals, and billing*. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement, maximizing cash flow, and maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to join *one of the region's largest health systems*, working alongside a collaborative Patient Financial Services (PFS) team in a structured, highimpact environment.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Perform followup on *thirdparty payer accounts receivable*, including denials and appeals
* Work assigned payer accounts by setting up and managing work queues, denial workflows, and AR reports
* Submit and manage hospital claims through the full revenue cycle to ensure timely reimbursement
* Research and resolve unpaid or underpaid claims to protect the organization from revenue loss
* Act as a liaison between patients, internal departments, and PFS teammates to gather required claims information
* Communicate with insurance payers and external departments to resolve outstanding receivables
* Obtain insurance information and secure authorizations required for services
* Ensure compliance with *state, federal, and payerspecific billing and reimbursement regulations*
* Stay current on regulatory and payer requirement changes
* Follow standard daily work processes related to thirdparty followup and reporting
* Collaborate with internal departments as needed to support claims resolution
*Required Qualifications (MustHave)*
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* *Minimum 2 years of hospital accounts receivable experience*
* *Minimum 2 years of experience working hospital denials and appeals*
* *Minimum 2 years of hospital billing experience*
* Handson experience using *EPIC*
* Experience working with *BCBS payers*
*Preferred Experience*
* Strong understanding of hospital revenue cycle workflows
* Experience interacting with insurance carriers and regulatory entities
* Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a deadlinedriven environment
*Work Environment*
* Hybrid schedule: *3 days onsite / 2 days remote*
