
Benefits Specialist

Annual Salary Range: $60K - $70K - depending on experience
Hours: 9AM - 5PM, plus a hybrid work setting

Position Summary: The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, coordination, and support of employee benefits programs within the organization. This role ensures employees understand and effectively utilize their benefits while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. In a healthcare environment, the Benefits Specialist plays a key role in supporting a diverse workforce with complex and often high-impact benefit needs.
Key Responsibilities: Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing clear and accurate information Coordinate open enrollment processes, including employee communications, system updates, and vendor collaboration Maintain and update benefits records in HRIS systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality Work with benefits providers and brokers to resolve claims issues and eligibility discrepancies Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA) Assist in evaluating and recommending improvements to benefits offerings to remain competitive in the healthcare industry Support onboarding and offboarding processes related to benefits enrollment and termination Prepare reports and analyze benefits utilization, trends, and costs Develop and distribute employee communication materials related to benefits programs Assist with audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2–4+ years of experience in benefits administration, preferably in a healthcare setting Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and applicable regulations Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification Experience working in hospitals, clinics, or healthcare systems Familiarity with union benefits or multi-site healthcare organizations
