Product Marketing Director (Developer Tools) - $200k base plus bonus & equity

We’re hiring a Product Marketing Director to own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market for a fast-growing developer tools company. This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a people-management or “slide-deck PMM” position. You’ll be responsible for defining how developers understand, evaluate, and adopt the product, and for building the product marketing playbook as the company scales.

You will:

  • Own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market
  • Translate technical product capabilities into clear developer value propositions
  • Lead product launches end-to-end
  • Create high-quality developer-focused content and copy
  • Partner closely with engineering, growth, and sales
  • Establish a repeatable product marketing playbook

First 90 days

  • Establish consistent messaging across the company
  • Clarify positioning and narrative
  • Improve website messaging and case studies

Long-term

  • Developers trust the product immediately
  • Messaging clearly communicates technical value
  • Product marketing becomes a scalable function

Must-Have Experience

  • Min 5+ years in Product Marketing
  • At least 2 years in developer tools/developer infrastructure
  • Experience building positioning and messaging from scratch
  • Strong writing ability (blogs, landing pages, launch copy)
  • Technical fluency working with engineers
  • Experience owning a product launch end-to-end

Ideal Background

You may have worked at companies like Vercel, Supabase, Linear, Planetscale, Stripe, Datadog, LaunchDarkly, or similar developer-first companies.

  • Are comfortable as a hands-on IC
  • Understand bottom-up developer adoption and PLG
  • Have worked across multiple growth stages
  • Care deeply about brand, taste, and clarity of messaging

Not a Fit

  • Enterprise PMM without a developer audience experience
  • Demand-gen or content marketing roles labelled as PMM
  • Candidates who need large teams or agency support to execute
