JOB DESCRIPTION
About the role: We are seeking a temporary Producer/Guest booker to support breaking crime news coverage. This role will help identify timely editorial opportunities, secure high‑value guests and contributors, and coordinate rapidly evolving coverage needs in a fast‑paced remote environment. While the role is remote, preference will be given to candidates based in New York, NY. The ideal candidate brings strong news judgement, sharp editorial instincts, and the ability to move quickly as stories develop.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Book guests, contributors, and subject matter experts relevant to breaking crime coverage
Monitor developing stories and identify timely editorial opportunities
Coordinate with producers and editorial stakeholders to support daily coverage needs
Research cases, background materials, and interview angles to strengthen coverage
Manage outreach, scheduling, and pre‑interview logistics for guests and contributors
Track breaking developments and help prioritize coverage based on editorial value and urgency
REQUIREMENTS
Experience in booking, producing, or editorial support for news, crime, or current events content
Strong news judgement and the ability to respond quickly to breaking developments
Excellent research, communication, and organisational skills
Experience managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Ability to identify compelling guests, sources, and story angles
Strong collaboration skills across editorial and production teams
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with crime, legal, or investigative storytelling
Background supporting audio, video, or digital‑first content
Established network of relevant guests, experts, or contributors

This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
