
Packaging Specialist

Job Summary
This position is responsible for safely and accurately packaging products into drums/totes/pails as assigned. Ensure proper, safe, clean and efficient movement/handling of company products in tank trailer, hose connections, and packaging equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow procedures for product filtration, movement transfers, sampling, labeling, and documentation
Manually gauge and sample tanks and tank trailers
Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies, such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels
Package the product in the form that it will be shipped (drums, totes, pails, etc.)
Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications
Line up transfer lines from the tank or tank trailer to the drumming machine or manual packaging
Observe drumming machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards
Palletize drums for shipment and placard with hazmat labels
Attach identification labels to finished packaged items
Operate lift equipment (forklift) for packaged product movement
Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material
Count and record finished and defective/quarantined packaged items in the ERP system
Assist bulk and warehouse personnel in day-to-day activities as needed
Qualifications Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least two years of experience with a variety of operating systems
Required Skills / Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Basic understanding of hardware and software used in computer maintenance
Ability to work a rotating schedule and weekends when needed
Safety Awareness – Suggests improvements to safety policies and procedures, coaches others on unsafe behaviors, positive role model for safe behaviors, participates in safety initiatives, and follows all safety rules and procedures
Job Knowledge – Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities, keeps job knowledge current

Physical Requirements and Environment:
Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier items with assistance
Requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, reaching, kneeling, and working in confined spaces or elevated areas
Must be able to wear full PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, flame‑resistant clothing, and respiratory protection as required
Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions including hot, cold, humid, noisy, or dusty environments
Requires the ability to distinguish colors, sounds, and alarms critical to safe plant operations
Must be physically able to respond to emergencies, including rapid evacuation or assisting others
