Director of Development
Position Summary:
The Director of Development is a professional staff member of Isabel's House. Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Director will spearhead development efforts as Isabel's House continues to grow. This position is exempt and supervises the Fund Development Staff.
Essential Duties
- Develop and execute Isabel's House's annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Direct and implement an effective grant management program, including research, grant writing, and follow-up reports
- Administer donor database, ensuring accuracy and full utilization of the program
- Develop, execute, and monitor fund development plans and strategies to enhance cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors while meeting organizational budget goals
- Plan for and manage third-party fundraising program, tax credit program, and monthly giving program
- Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Manage the implementation of donor CRM and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
- Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
- Oversight of the organization of special events
- Oversight of development and tracking proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising
- Adheres to professional fundraising ethics of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
- Build strong relationships with staff, community volunteers, media contacts, and community leaders to increase awareness and ensure strong advocacy and fundraising success
Marketing & Communications
- Develops and implements the organization's communications and marketing plan, including, but not limited to, the annual report, marketing materials, direct mail campaigns, newsletter publications, email, website, and social media campaigns
- Provide brand management for programs, development, and outreach communications
- Adheres to professional fundraising ethics of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
Volunteer Program
- Develops and executes Isabel's House's annual volunteer program plan in collaboration with the Executive Director, Program Team, and Volunteer Committee
- Manages the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of volunteers
- Develops training programs for all volunteers
- Collaborates with staff and committee to implement volunteer recognition program
- Oversees volunteer program evaluation, making recommendations for improvements to the program, seeking best practices
Other Duties
- Periodically participate in or lead activities with children at Isabel's House
- Administrative duties, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or equivalent is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit, fund development, and/or marketing is preferred
- Ability to work independently, time and resource management skills
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational, marketing, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills
- Valid Class E driver's license and good driving record. Must have satisfactory results for required background screenings and exams
- Knowledge of CRM database systems required
- Demonstrated graphic design software skills are preferred
Working Conditions
- Required in-state travel
- Work on a computer for long periods of time
- Sit or stand for long periods of time
- May be required to lift children weighing up to 40 pounds
- In ratio to care for children, as needed
- Health risks due to contact with children staying at Isabel's House
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, regularly including evening and weekend meetings/events
