Position Summary
The Roofing Estimator is responsible for evaluating roofing projects and producing accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. This role works closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure estimates are aligned with project scope and company standards. Success in this position is defined by accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to support profitable project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and residential roofing projects
Review blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope
Perform site visits and inspections to gather measurements and project data
Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to confirm pricing and availability
Develop and present proposals and bids to clients
Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
Utilize estimating software and tools for cost analysis and forecasting
Track estimated versus actual costs to support continuous improvement
Collaborate with project management teams to ensure alignment between estimates and execution
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
Stay current on roofing systems, materials, and industry trends
Qualifications
Experience as a roofing estimator or similar role within construction
Strong understanding of roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, metal, shingles, and coatings
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work
Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Excel, Bluebeam, CompanyCam, or similar
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk job sites and perform roof inspections
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Work Environment
This role operates in a combination of office and field environments, including active job sites. Travel may be required for site inspections and client meetings.
Compensation
$80,000 – $90,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
