Job Overview The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness is responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive sports health and wellness program for the university’s intercollegiate sports. The role includes oversight of Sports Medicine and related health and wellness matters, establishing policy and procedures, supervising athletic training staff, providing clinical and administrative guidance, and serving as a liaison among physicians, athletic trainers, mental health providers, sports dietitians, consultants, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, student‑athletes, and parents.
Additional Duties
Monitors the accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records and injury documentation for each student‑athlete.
Responsible for developing a comprehensive Sports Medicine Department Policy and Procedure manual that includes expectations, training room protocol, record keeping, injury report documentation, insurance claim processing, and general athletic training room guidelines.
Ensures that all athletic training staff adheres to the Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct.
Work Interactions The Head Athletics Trainer, in consultation with the Director of Athletics and the Senior Associate AD for Business and Finance, will develop and maintain the annual operating budget, inventory, and order new equipment and supplies. The Senior Associate AD for Student Athlete Health & Wellness is required to create a plan for appropriate team coverage for practices and competitions, and weekly and monthly staff schedules.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Current NATABOC certification required.
Current District of Columbia licensure for Fall 2026 academic year.
Must meet criteria for certification as established by the NATA with respect to CEUs.
Must be able to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices.
Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations.
Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of NCAA regulations.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.
Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications.
Available weekends and evenings.
Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University.
Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as On-Campus. Work mode designations are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may change as the university’s needs evolve.
Pay Range Projected salary or hourly pay range: $66,783.00 – $126,720.23. Compensation is determined by factors including candidate qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, and the university’s business needs.
