The position is located in the Office of Audits (OA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reporting to the Director, Audit Operations and Quality Assurance.
Responsibilities
Review written products for clarity and correctness of spelling, grammar, and punctuation using NASA OIG established standards and the Chicago Manual of Style; conduct research and add new information where appropriate.
Analyze written products to determine if audit findings are supported by evidence, the message is clearly communicated, the overall tone is balanced, content is appropriate for the intended audience, and audit recommendations track with the findings.
Collaborate and effectively communicate with audit teams during the entire audit cycle, including facilitating discussions, providing constructive feedback on written products, and preparing products for issuance.
Create graphics and tables to visually and effectively communicate key elements of written products for the intended audience with consideration to 508 compliance.
Manage projects from beginning to end, such as congressional reports and internal guides, including planning timelines, coordinating with staff, and writing and editing content.
Requirements
This position is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.
May require a one-year probationary period; the requirement and duration are determined by Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 11.
Current federal employees must meet qualifications, time‑in‑grade, and 90‑day post‑competitive‑appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Subject to a pre‑employment screening, with optional random testing thereafter for reasonable suspicion or direct involvement with an on‑duty accident.
Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Position requires pre‑employment financial disclosure and annual disclosure thereafter.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS‑12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑11 level:
Analyzing data to refine audit reports, presentation, correspondence, and testimonies;
Assisting with the finalization of audit products before issuance.

Time‑in‑grade requirements apply to applicants who have held a non‑temporary, competitive service GS position in the past year. If you are a current federal employee applying for a GS‑12 or higher level, you must meet applicable time‑in‑grade requirements to be considered eligible. A minimum of 52 weeks in a position no more than one grade lower than the advertised position is required, and you must submit an SF‑50 that shows Time‑in‑Grade eligibility.
Applicants may be eligible for CTAP/ICTAP; eligibility must be indicated and evidence submitted as required. Qualified NASA term employees and other employees under the NASA Flexibility Act of 2004 are considered equally with other NASA permanent employees.
Any applicant who has received a Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) within the last five years may be required to repay the full amount prior to establishing a start date if selected.
