The Opportunity
With dynamic new leadership at the helm, the Houston office is entering a bold chapter – and you’ll be at the heart of its business development and marketing efforts. The Marketing & Business Development Specialist will provide marketing and business development leadership and support to the firm. The MBD Specialist will report to the Director of Client Engagement or MBD Manager. The responsibilities include driving local pitch and marketing efforts, and managing events, sponsorships, and local outreach by working with the Director and the Office Managing Partners (OMPs) to lead the marketing and business development efforts of the office and local practice groups. The MBD Specialist will also collaborate with the National Practice Development Team on department initiatives.

The Day‑To‑Day
On Any Given Day, You Will

Identify creative thinking and approaches to different clients and opportunities.

Manage the support of responses to regional pitches and proposals.

Conduct company, client, industry, competitor and other research and analysis to consult with Director and stakeholders on business development efforts.

Leverage the Firm’s CRM database (Interaction).

Manage the development of seminars, webinars, conferences and other events, including consulting with attorney leads to develop ideas based on market, managing event logistics and creating thoughtful ROI plans and targeted client development opportunities.

Develop internal communications including but not limited to: newsletters, invitation content, surveys, and announcements. Work with the Firm’s Social Media Manager on such opportunities and campaigns.

Consult with attorneys on biographies and marketing profiles, collateral, and cover other day‑to‑day marketing responsibilities as needed.

You Have

An undergraduate degree in business or related field.

Six (6) years of work experience, with a minimum of three years direct experience in marketing or business development in a professional services environment. Law firm experience a plus but not required.

The ability to be detail‑oriented and organized.

Solid technical skills including internet research, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Database experience (i.e. Interaction, Foundation). The ability to effectively lead projects for stakeholders, and prioritize, plan and manage time with competing deadlines.

Good oral and written communication skills; good grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension.

The ability to maintain confidentiality.

The ability to demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills as they become necessary, take on new responsibilities based on firm directives and strategy, and receptive to feedback.

Ability to function in a collaborative organization and be a team player.

The ability to travel to the other offices as determined by the director.
