The Job the Visual Merchandising Designer will help bring amika to life across physical retail and experiential touchpoints, translating the brand’s creative vision into compelling, high-impact design across third-party retail environments, events, pop-ups, and branded collateral. this role will partner closely with creative, brand marketing, and cross-functional stakeholders to concept and execute thoughtful, on‑brand design solutions that drive visibility, consistency, and excitement in the market.
this person should have a strong eye for design, a deep understanding of beauty retail, and hands‑on experience creating for third‑party retailers, in‑store visual merchandising, and event environments. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects from concept through final production.
Salary $85,000 - $95,000 + bonus
Location nyc (must be based in nyc, work onsite 2-3 days a week + have the right to work in the US)
What You’ll Do
design and develop visual merchandising assets across a range of physical brand touchpoints, including but not limited to:
in-store point of sale
planograms
tester units and fixture graphics
window moments and promotional merchandising
event and trade show graphics
out-of-home and print collateral as needed
partner closely with the creative director, visual merchandising lead, and internal creative and brand marketing teams to ensure all work is aligned with amika’s brand identity, campaign direction, and business objectives.
translate brand and campaign concepts into strong retail and experiential design systems that feel both elevated and executable across multiple formats, footprints, and channels.
support design needs for global and domestic events, trade shows, and brand activations, contributing to the overall visual look and feel while maintaining consistency with established brand guidelines.
collaborate cross-functionally with brand marketing, product marketing, sales, and external vendors or print partners to bring projects from concept through production and installation.
prepare production-ready files and final artwork, ensuring all deliverables are accurate, on brand, and tailored to vendor, retailer, and fabrication specifications.
manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail, clear communication, and proactive follow-through.
own assigned creative workflows in project management platforms such as Asana, helping track milestones, manage timelines, and flag risks, delays, or bottlenecks as needed.
stay current on beauty, retail, and experiential design trends, bringing fresh thinking and relevant inspiration to the team.
Must Haves
4–5 years of design experience, with direct experience in the beauty industry required
strong portfolio demonstrating work across third-party retail, visual merchandising, in-store display, and/or event design
experience designing for beauty environments, with an understanding of how brands show up within retail footprints such as Sephora, Ulta, specialty retail, and branded events
strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
solid understanding of print production, fabrication, and pre-press requirements
ability to balance creative thinking with technical precision and real-world execution
strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
comfortable working with external vendors, print suppliers, and production partners to ensure creative integrity through final output
Nice to Haves
experience working on retail launches, seasonal campaigns, merchandising updates, or event activations within a beauty brand
familiarity with retailer guidelines and third-party retail requirements
experience working within a highly creative, fast-moving brand environment
