Intervention Specialist
Location: Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Thomas A Wildey Center – Batavia, Ohio.
Intervention Specialist – 35 hours per week (184 days), Bargaining Unit eligible.
Job Description The role involves reviewing and assessing student performance to deliver research-based, specially designed instruction that meets individual needs. Responsibilities include:
Review and assess student performance and design research‑based instruction.
Instruct students in communication, fine and gross motor, adaptive and vocational skills; provide 1:1 and group instruction.
Assist students with basic living skills (personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, socialization, dressing, swimming, etc.) during the school day.
Prepare teaching materials, visual supports and lesson plans; maintain daily activity, behavior and attendance data.
Assess students, gather information and write Evaluation Team Reports (ETR) and Individual Education Programs (IEP); monitor progress.
Collaborate with staff, parents, caseworkers, family and medical personnel; facilitate communication with students via sign language, picture communication and total communication approach.
Provide direction to instructor assistants, address student behavior concerns and model best practices.
Promote and implement the mandates and goals of the Clermont County Board of DD; maintain punctuality and a consistent schedule.
Assist support staff with safe transfer, lifts and positioning of students.
Administer oral and topical medication under RN supervision; represent CCDD; develop knowledge of current developments in the field.
Transport individuals in agency vehicle if required (CPR/First Aid); perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Intervention Specialist Certification/License issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
Prefer Moderate/Intensive Certification and experience collaborating with individuals with Autism.
Physically able to lift, carry, and position children safely.
Successfully pass pre‑employment background check, a physical exam, and all required registries.
