will transform Savannah’s storied Manger Building into a new kind of lifestyle hotel and clubhouse. With 221 rooms—including suites and bunk rooms—plus co-working, a rooftop pool, a circuit-based wellness club, a French brasserie, and layered social spaces, Recess is designed as a "public club": a private clubhouse for all. Locals, members, and travelers will come together to eat, drink, work, play, and connect.

Job Overview The
Director of People & Culture
leads the on-property execution of all people-related initiatives, serving as a key partner to the General Manager and leadership team. Operating within a shared services model, this role ensures alignment with enterprise strategy while delivering thoughtful, consistent execution at the property level.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strength across the full HR lifecycle—from talent acquisition and onboarding through team member relations, performance, and compliance. The Director plays a critical role in shaping a culture that supports both team member engagement and the delivery of a high-quality guest experience.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary People & Culture partner to the General Manager and department leaders, translating enterprise strategy into effective on-property execution
Operate within a shared services model, partnering closely with the Vice President of People & Culture to ensure alignment and consistency
Lead on-property talent acquisition efforts, ensuring a strong, brand-aligned candidate experience
Oversee onboarding and training programs that reinforce culture, service standards, and operational readiness
Act as the primary point of contact for team member relations, providing coaching and guidance to leaders on performance, engagement, and team dynamics
Drive performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and development planning
Maintain HR systems (e.g., Rippling), team member records, and reporting
Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and company policies, maintaining audit-ready processes
Lead culture and engagement initiatives that support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment
Ensure the team member experience reflects the same level of care and intentionality as the guest experience
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within hospitality or luxury service environments
Demonstrated ability to operate as a true HR generalist across multiple disciplines
Experience working within a shared services or multi-property model preferred
Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
Experience in high-growth or pre-opening environments is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
