Administrative Support Clerk
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support and assistance to the judge for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for support to the Municipal Court operations. Examples of duties include: Collects and transmits data on verdicts of cases adjudicated in the Municipal Court. Assists the Judge in court with dockets and paperwork related to cases. Enters citations and schedule court dates. Enters dispositions for cases heard in the Municipal Court. Prepares docket or calendar of cases to be called. Examines legal documents submitted to court for adherence to law or court procedures. Prepares case folders and posts, files or routes documents. Explains procedures or forms to parties in case. Secures information for judges and contacts witnesses, attorneys, and litigants to obtain information for court. Records minutes of court proceedings and transcribes testimony. Records case disposition, court orders, and arrangement for payment of court fees. Collects and holds restitution funds, fine payments and total monies. Prepares and audits cash receipts for Court collections. Files and retrieves documents and reference materials. Maintains positive communications with the public, including answering phone calls and emails and receiving customers at the customer service area. Responds to inquiries in person and by email from staff, the public, law enforcement, attorneys, and others as required. Responsible for the accurate receipt and recording of payments. Cross trained with other clerks to performs their duties when needed. Typical qualifications include: Associate's Degree Two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Salary depends upon experience and qualifications. Starting salary is $41,912 annually.
