International Senior Regional Director, Africa – Job Description
Do you have experience doing cross‑cultural ministry in Africa? Are you a gifted project manager? Samaritan's Purse is looking for a qualified International Senior Regional Director, Africa to oversee the work of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) in evangelization, discipleship, and multiplication of followers of Jesus Christ throughout Africa.
A Day in the Life of an International Senior Regional Director, Africa
At Samaritans Purse the Gospel is at the center of all we do. Each day begins with devotions and prayer for our staff and volunteers worldwide. In this role you will have the opportunity to maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, guide regional staff, build partnerships, lead volunteers, promote spiritual maturity, and support strategic planning, reporting, and coaching of Regional Directors.
Responsibilities
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
Direct regional staff to build and maintain capacity for effective evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication of OCC throughout Africa to meet global goals
Work with Regional Directors to build and maintain partnerships with national consignees to gain annual exoneration for the importation of shoebox gifts and ministry materials and reduce demurrage on shipments
Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, leading, and development of volunteer leaders
Promote spiritual maturity and a healthy work environment throughout the regions
Give time to strategic planning, travel planning, reporting, and coaching of Regional Directors
Provide leadership on global initiatives, regional objectives, and special assignments
Monitor, coach, and provide progress updates to leadership on the work of OCC in Africa
Ensure the effective management of regional budgets to meet global goals
Track and approve travel, honorariums, and operating funds for International Field Representatives
Provide field feedback and guidance to the Global Programs team toward the establishment of global standard processes to support global goals
Serve as the hiring manager for all staff in the super region and coordinate onboarding for new staff
Work with the Field Events and Content Team to provide leadership for Vision, Content, Audit, and Special Trips in the region
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree in Missions, Missiology, Theology or related field, and five to seven years of international and/or cross‑cultural ministry and leadership experience (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire
Demonstrated and proven ability to train, coach, and develop staff in a cross‑cultural environment
Demonstrated and proven project management experience from planning to final reporting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to manage financial reports and annual regional budgets

Approximately 50 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
