What does a THEATER DIRECTOR do?
As the Seasonal Theater Director, you will hold auditions to select the finest talent for our productions while overseeing programming and budgeting processes to ensure a successful season. Your role will involve addressing complaints and resolving disputes, showcasing your problem‑solving skills in a collaborative environment. You will maintain a safe space for both the public and staff, highlighting your commitment to safety standards. Instructing and demonstrating essential skill sets to classes of approximately 60 to 100 participants will empower individuals and teams to achieve their creative goals.
Additionally, you will assign duties to all staff and volunteers, develop training programs and rehearsal schedules, and make recommendations for the purchasing of costumes, equipment, and supplies, ensuring every production runs smoothly and successfully.

A solid grasp of the principles and regulations specific to children’s theatre is essential, as you will be working closely with younger participants. Additionally, you should be well‑versed in lead work principles and rehearsal practices, allowing you to establish priorities, assign and review work, and resolve any arising issues efficiently. Strong organizational and coordination skills will enable you to plan, implement, and direct the development of engaging theatre art experiences tailored to the community’s needs. Your ability to adapt and innovate will be key in guiding both individual and collective growth in acting, stage management and direction, ensuring a fulfilling and impactful theater experience for all involved.
Knowledge And Skills Required For The Position Are
Knowledge of fundamentals and techniques of creative and performing arts to be able to perform a variety of duties related to the work assignment.
Knowledge of the techniques, principles and regulations of children’s theatre.
Knowledge of lead work principles, rehearsal practices and being able to sufficiently establish priorities, assign review work and resolve problems.
Develop and administer theatre experience in acting, stage management and direction suited to the needs of the community.
Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the development and implementation of theatre art.
Must pass a thorough criminal background check due to the sensitivity of the information handled by this position.
Salary: $15.00 per hour
