Intellectual Property Attorney

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of intellectual property applications, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Conduct trademark clearance searches and assist with trademark prosecution and portfolio management.
• Draft and review IP-related agreements, including licensing agreements, nondisclosure agreements, technology agreements, and assignments.
• Support enforcement of intellectual property rights, including monitoring potential infringement and assisting with cease-and-desist communications.
• Conduct legal research on intellectual property laws, regulations, and case developments.
• Assist with due diligence related to intellectual property in corporate transactions.
• Work closely with clients to manage IP matters and maintain accurate records of filings and deadlines.
• Support development of policies related to intellectual property protection and compliance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Illinois and before the USPTO or eligibility to obtain admission.
• Experience in intellectual property law, including internships, clerkships, or prior practice.
• Strong interest in intellectual property law.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical background relevant to patent work
• Familiarity with intellectual property filing systems and databases.
