Director of Finance – Investment Management Platform
Position Overview
My investment management client who manages about $20B AUM is seeking a Director of Finance to serve as a senior financial leader within a growing investment management organization. This individual will oversee all core finance functions, including accounting, financial reporting, planning, treasury, and compliance support across a multi-product, multi-entity investment platform.
This role partners closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making, operational scaling, and financial integrity across both corporate and fund-level activities in a regulated investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Act as a strategic finance partner to senior leadership, supporting long-term growth initiatives and product expansion strategies
Provide financial analysis, modeling, and scenario planning to support business decisions and new initiatives
Translate organizational priorities into financial forecasts, performance tracking, and capital planning frameworks
Accounting & Reporting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across corporate and investment entities
Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
Maintain integrity of consolidated reporting across multiple entities and investment structures
Coordinate with external auditors and service providers on audit and reporting deliverables
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles
Analyze revenue drivers tied to asset-based fees and product performance
Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities for efficiency and scale
Treasury & Liquidity Management
Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and banking relationships
Oversee capital allocation decisions supporting operational and growth initiatives
Support working capital optimization across business lines
Compliance & Controls
Support adherence to regulatory, tax, and financial reporting requirements applicable to investment management entities
Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting
Coordinate with legal, compliance, and audit stakeholders on reporting and control matters
Monitor financial risk exposures including market, currency, and operational risks
Fund & Product Finance Support
Support financial operations related to investment products, including lifecycle activity, expense allocation, and performance reporting
Partner with operations and external administrators to ensure accurate NAV and fund-level reporting
Assist with fee calculations and product-level financial analytics where applicable
Leadership & Team Development
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team
Establish scalable processes and workflows to support organizational growth
Promote collaboration across investment, operations, and distribution functions
Investor & Executive Reporting
Prepare financial reporting materials for senior leadership and governing bodies
Support investor-facing financial reporting and due diligence requests
Contribute to internal and external stakeholder communications regarding financial performance
Strategic Projects
Lead or support initiatives such as system implementations, process improvements, and cost optimization
Evaluate financial implications of potential acquisitions, partnerships, or new business lines
Support expansion into new jurisdictions or operational structures as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, with an active CPA
8–12+ years of progressive finance experience in investment management, financial services, or fund-related environments
Prior experience in a senior finance role overseeing accounting, reporting, and planning functions
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with multi-entity structures
Deep understanding of asset-based revenue models and investment product economics
Experience working in a regulated financial environment preferred
Strong leadership experience managing finance teams
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
Background in investment platforms, asset management, or fund-adjacent businesses
Exposure to multi-product or international business operations
Experience with financial system implementations or scaling finance infrastructure
Familiarity with performance-based revenue structures and investment reporting workflows
