Capital District Regional Representative
State of New York – Executive Chamber
Salary Range: $90,000-100,000

About:
Reporting to the Director of Capital Region Intergovernmental Affairs, the Capital Regional Representative will represent the Governor by helping to build and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, community leaders, and advocacy/issue groups.

Duties:
Coordinate and facilitate all significant communications between the Governor and federal, state and local elected officials and other stakeholders
Work closely and collaboratively with Governor’s IGA team to effectively promote the Governor’s priorities and policy strategies to critical stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes
Attend events, meetings and forums on behalf of the Governor
Liaise with State Agencies on ongoing State projects in the region
Plan, organize and oversee regional visits for the Governor, and other senior members of the Administration
Provide strategic support for public outreach, including organizing meetings with the Governor’s partners in government, elected officials and relevant community groups
Oversee correspondence with external stakeholders
Advise the Governor and senior members of the Administration on local issues, political dynamics and other matters

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience in government, politics and/or campaigns. A relevant Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Must have a good working relationship with elected officials, faith-based leads, advocates, community boards, civic associations, etc. in the assigned region.
Must be well versed on the issues impacting the region.
Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and public speaking skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly for diverse audiences.
Excellent research, reasoning and writing skills.
Sound judgement with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to proactively self-manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
