Are you the friend who is always capturing the perfect video and spotting the best moments on campus? The Division for University Advancement is seeking a creative and camera‑ready student to serve as a Social Media Specialist.

This role brings the Missouri State Alumni Association and Foundation experience to life across social platforms. The Social Media Specialist will collaborate with University Advancement Relations staff to develop engaging, student‑centered content that highlights campus traditions, donor impact and alumni pride. From Homecoming excitement to scholarship stories to timely social trends, this position helps connect the University Advancement audience to the heart of Missouri State.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and pitch creative content ideas

Assist in building and executing a monthly content calendar

Capture and edit short‑form video content for social media platforms

Attend select campus and advancement events to gather real‑time content

Highlight student experiences, alumni stories, and philanthropic impact

Participate in trend research to ensure content is timely and platform appropriate

Engage with other relevant social media channels

Serve as a positive and professional representative of Missouri State University

Monitor engagement and assist in identifying content that resonates with audiences

Required Qualifications

Current Missouri State University student in good academic standing

Strong familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and emerging platforms

Comfortable appearing on camera and conducting informal interviews

Basic video editing skills using mobile or desktop applications

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines

Interest in storytelling, communications, or digital media preferred

Bonus skill: Graphic design
