Executive Director

Confidential, Boston, MA, United States

An Executive Director is sought by the client to lead a center focused on advancing substance use disorder care through research, education, policy, and practice. This center acts as a hub for addiction-related work, aligning clinical services, research, education, and community partnerships to enhance care delivery. Although not directly providing clinical services, the center brings together stakeholders, drives innovation, and supports the implementation of evidence-based practices across multiple addiction services to strengthen quality, advance equity, reduce stigma, and expand access to care. Situated within a large, integrated health system that includes hospitals, care organizations, and community health centers, the center is uniquely positioned to influence addiction care from clinical delivery to population health. It also plays a significant national role through training programs, research, evaluation, and policy engagement at local, state, and federal levels. As the demand for quality addiction care grows, the center is transitioning due to the planned retirement of its Executive Director. The new Executive Director will report to the Vice President and Chief of Population Health Services, set strategic priorities, lead operations, and act as the main representative of the center, ensuring its initiatives are well-coordinated, scalable, and improve care and outcomes. Candidates must have a clinical doctoral degree and be eligible for an appointment at the associate or full professor level, with substantial leadership experience in academic medicine or integrated health systems and extensive expertise in substance use disorder care. The client has retained a national executive search firm to assist with this search, ensuring equal employment opportunities are provided without discrimination based on race, color, sex, religious practices, national origin, pregnancy, veteran status, or disability.
