Citi's Commercial Lending Management (CLM) organization is a core, in-business credit function supporting Citi's U.S. Commercial Bank. CLM partners closely with Relationship Managers and Independent Risk to deliver disciplined underwriting, strong portfolio oversight, and well-structured lending solutions for commercial clients.
We are seeking a
Vice President, Commercial Credit Officer
to join the CLM team in
Jacksonville, Florida
, one of Citi's most significant U.S. hubs for commercial banking and credit operations. This role owns underwriting execution and portfolio oversight for a diversified commercial banking portfolio and serves as a key credit partner to bankers and risk stakeholders.
This is a
hands-on VP role
offering meaningful credit authority, stability, and long-term career growth within Citi's Jacksonville platform.
Role Overview
The Vice President, Commercial Credit Officer is responsible for managing a material level of credit exposure across a portfolio of commercial clients. The role leads credit underwriting, structuring, documentation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring while balancing business objectives with sound risk discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Underwriting & Portfolio Ownership
Lead the
end-to-end credit process
for new and existing commercial relationships
Partner with Relationship Managers to pre-screen opportunities and assess credit appetite
Prepare and challenge underwriting analysis, credit approvals, amendments, renewals, and annual reviews
Provide credit decision accountability in coordination with Independent Risk
Risk Management & Monitoring
Oversee quarterly and annual portfolio reviews, covenant compliance, and regulatory classifications
Identify emerging risks early and recommend appropriate mitigation actions
Ensure accurate risk ratings and minimize net credit losses for the assigned portfolio
Execution & Documentation
Direct and oversee loan documentation processes for new transactions and modifications
Coordinate with internal teams and external legal counsel to ensure approved credit terms are accurately documented
Stakeholder Partnership
Participate in client discussions and internal credit forums
Provide sector and portfolio insights to senior stakeholders
Serve as a trusted credit partner across business, risk, and control teams
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Mentor and develop junior credit professionals
Support training and technical skill development initiatives
Recommend and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
Qualifications & Experience
6-10 years of experience
in commercial credit underwriting, portfolio management, or credit risk
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Strong expertise in financial statement analysis, cash-flow analysis, and credit structuring
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and clearly articulate a credit view
Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
Experience within a large or regional financial institution
Exposure to a broad range of commercial lending products
Master's degree or professional certification is a plus, but
not required
