Position Overview
The Regional Director of Sales leads the sales development team in a designation region for Personal, Commercial, Life, and Voluntary Benefit products. The role involves providing strategic direction for the sales management team, building and maintaining a strong network of independent agents, and overseeing staffing, expenses, employee development, and the implementation of long‑term initiatives.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee the relationship between the company and independent agents by managing the sales team and their territories.
- Assist with developing, underwriting, pricing, and proposing commercial new business within the assigned region and authorities.
- Engage with independent agents through regular business meetings.
- Review and approve new agency appointments and manage region performance expectations.
- Lead the sales management team to achieve product growth and profitability objectives.
- Develop and deliver sales department management training and participate in agency training when necessary.
- Monitor agency and regional performance results and implement corrective plans as needed.
- Participate in regional discussions and recommend actions to improve profitability and production.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation, tracking, and communication of agency incentive programs.
- Monitor marketplace environment and competitor trends, reporting significant activity or changes to leadership.
- Conduct annual and semi‑annual agency reviews and monitor improvement programs.
- Attend and participate in industry seminars, conventions, and Agent Association events.
- Represent the company at regional award banquets, field meetings, and incentive trips.
- Provide administration, coaching, and feedback to direct reports, including performance management and employee relations.
- Act as a role model and change champion, building strong teams to deliver business results.
- Oversee execution of large and complex plans and projects aimed at strategic goals.
- Engage key stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and departmental objectives.
- Assist with development of departmental policies and standards.
- Foster positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Required
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business‑related field.
- Typically requires 8+ years of industry experience.
- Typically requires 5+ years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Preferred Or Specialized
- Master’s Degree in a business‑related field.
Certifications & Licenses
- At least one of the following designations: CPCU, CLU, CIC, or FLMI.

- Industry standards, marketplace environment, pricing, rates, and product offerings.

Pay Range
- $126,000 – $172,000 per year.
- This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position; final compensation will depend on individual factors.
