Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Foundations & CFO for Foundations and Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement, the Director of Foundations Finance provides leadership, management, and oversight of the Foundations Finance & Accounting staff to ensure robust financial and operational controls. The Director supports the finance functions of the Augusta University Foundation, the Real Estate Foundation, and the Real Estate Corporation, and represents the Foundations in finance‑related matters with the University’s stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Finance & Accounting staff to achieve departmental goals.
- Maintain accounting systems, accounts, balances, and recordkeeping.
- Implement and uphold internal controls and financial procedures.
- Recommend policy and procedure enhancements.
- Produce timely, accurate financial and management reports for funders and Boards, and prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
- Serve as strategic partner to the AVP, Foundations & CFO, coordinating development and monitoring of strategies, plans, and budgets.
- Plan cash flow, manage cash, investment and asset balances, and assist in financing strategies and banking relationships.
- Stay current on nonprofit audit best practices and compliance with state and federal rules, coordinating audits and tax return filing.
- Develop financial business plans, forecasts, and predictive models to support organizational planning.
- Coordinate short‑, medium‑, and long‑term financial plans, and represent Foundations to financial partners.
- Assist in developing investment policies and performance monitoring.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years’ accounting experience in higher education or a public employer setting.
- Supervisor experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- CPA License.
- Ten years of financial management experience in a nonprofit organization and philanthropic setting.
- Experience with a nonprofit foundation affiliated to a public college or university.
- Demonstrated career progression with proven ability to select, train, supervise, and motivate a professional team.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The Director will have a strong financial accounting, reporting, and management background, experience in nonprofit financial accounting and operations, and the ability to lead and guide staff in financial operations. Ideally, the Director has experience working in or with a complex nonprofit organization with multiple funding sources and an affiliate structure.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
Shift: Days during weekdays (outside normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B17.
Salary Range: $109,500 - $125,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications.
Recruitment Period: 11/12/2025 - Until Filled.
Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; potential tuition assistance program after six months of employment.

Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and, when necessary, foreign credential evaluation. Candidates must adhere to confidentiality and cybersecurity policies. The position will involve handling P-Card, cash, and other sensitive information requiring a satisfactory Consumer Credit check.
