Construction Superintendent

We are seeking a seasoned Construction Superintendent with a minimum of 5–10 years of experience managing ground-up construction projects in New York City. This role is critical to ensuring the successful on-site execution of projects, overseeing all phases from site prep and foundations through to final finishes and close-out. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NYC building codes, logistics, and safety requirements, and be capable of leading complex urban construction projects with efficiency and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities Construction & Site Management

Supervise all field operations for ground-up and complex renovation construction projects (residential, commercial, or mixed-use).

Ensure work is completed according to schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirements.

Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, trades, and site labor daily.

Implement and maintain site logistics plans, including deliveries, staging areas, crane coordination, and pedestrian safety.

Schedule & Progress Tracking

Monitor and update construction schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager.

Ensure all milestones and critical path activities are tracked and achieved.

Identify schedule risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.

Quality Control & Safety

Enforce high standards of quality assurance across all trades.

Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations and NYC DOB safety standards.

Conduct daily safety briefings, inspections, and walk-throughs.

Communication & Coordination

Serve as the primary on-site contact for subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.

Attend and lead jobsite coordination meetings with internal teams and external consultants.

Manage RFI implementation, submittals, and change order execution in coordination with the PM.

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate and detailed daily field reports, documenting manpower, inspections, progress, issues, and delays.

Coordinate and document all required NYC DOB inspections and filings.

Track material deliveries, equipment usage, and subcontractor compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

5–10 years of verifiable experience as a Superintendent on NYC ground-up construction projects.

Proven track record of managing complex mid- to high-rise projects from excavation through to Certificate of Occupancy.

Deep knowledge of NYC building codes, zoning, logistics, and permitting processes.

OSHA 30 certification and NYC SST (Site Safety Training) card required.

Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil plans.

Proficiency with field technology and software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar.

Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a leadership-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

NYC DOB-registered Superintendent or Site Safety Manager license (preferred but not required).

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
